Salvation summary

Langston Hughes was an author, playwright, Poet and a great inspiration during the Harlem Renaissance. He eventually wrote an article called “salvation” telling about the defining moment in his life. He was twelve years old when his aunt took him to a revival for children at his church. At the revival is aunt told him that he would know when he saw the light and he would be able to see and feel Jesus in his soul. The preacher gave his sermon and told all of the children to come to him if they had been saved. Most of the children stayed in their seats so a lot of the elders gathered around the children to sing and pray for them to come to the light. Soon all of the children went up to the preacher except for Hughes and a boy sitting next to him. They sat there until later into the night when the boy said that he was tired of sitting there and would just go up to get it over with. Soon the boy went up and left Hughes by himself. Hughes still did not get up because see Jesus and he did not want to lie to his aunt. Eventually, he got tired of all the elders singing and praying so he went up to the priest and that night before bed he cried. Hughes cried because after that moment he lied to his aunt and did not believe in Jesus anymore.
